Taptapani - the Eternal Spring
The long awaited blog on Tapatapani - awesome Hot springs.
Orissa Tourism Development Corporation Ltd
"The bubbling hot spring of Taptapani lies deep in the forests and high on a hill around 50 km from Berhampur. The waters, believed to have medicinal properties, are also piped directly into the bathrooms of the Pantha Niwas (tourist bungalow). The beauty of the rolling tribal inhabited hills is an added bonus." - thats what the Govt Tourism site declares.
My Experience:
I was looking forward to soaking my feet in the soothing waters Id find, after a tiresome journey of 6-7 hours in a 4 wheeler.
What Id actually found was a tiny trickle that was walled off. You could only take in a few drops of water and yeah I concede to this - it was warm.
Unfortunately, I dont have any pictures to show. We were so pissed off, with the hours of journey, that all we could do was just keep quite. So far the experiences in Orissa were dismal.
People going to Orissa, avoid Tapatpani.
Actually Ive my doubts on had we actually been to Taptapani. The Govt site cannot flaunt and promise so much when actually we didnt see any of it.
It was a mindless journey to nowhere.
Actually, Ive got an Idea of doing the 'Bakra' series (courtesy: MTV) on travelers who go there. Their reaction to the trickle that they actually see after such a long journey is worth the try.
Other ideas, the place can be suggested to anyone who you have a grudge against.hehehe
This blog was long due. New Year revelers to Orissa watch out!!!!
